the Modern Choreography International
Festival-Competition IFFE’2011
will be held in Moscow.

 
We invite modern dance groups and plastic drama ensembles to participate in the Festival-Competition.

1. GENERAL REGULATIONS of the Modern Choreography Competition with the IFFE’2011
 
1.1. The Competition is held annually in Moscow within the limits of the International Festival “The Four Elements” (IFFE).
1.2. The aim of the Competition is to support and stimulate creative activity of choreographic groups and plastic drama theatres in creating innovatory theatre projects using ethnic music.
1.3. Nominees are choreographic miniatures.
1.4. Participants are contemporary choreography and plastic drama groups.
1.5. Titles and rewards of the Competition.
1.5.1. The highest reward of the Competition is Grand Prix: Grand Prix “Ethnica” and Grand Prix IFFE. Grand Prix is awarded in the “Best Miniature” nomination. The winner of the Grand Prix will be presented with the diploma and the cash prize. The cash prize is indivisible.
1.5.2. The “Laureate” title is awarded in the “Best Miniature” nomination.
The laureates of “Ethnica” and IFFE will be given diplomas and cash prizes.
1.5.3. The Jury awards special prizes to groups, producers, choreographs, musicians and the participants of the projects: “For the Best Artistic Ensemble”, “For the Mastership of Acting and Performing”, “For the Best Dramaturgy and Production”, “For the Originality of the Programme”, “For Organic Combination of Contemporary Choreography and Ethnic Music in the Performance”. The winners of the “Special Prizes of the Jury” will be given diplomas and valuable presents from the constitutors and the sponsors of the Festival.
1.5.4. A Special Prize of the Spectators’ Jury is awarded to participating groups. The winners of the “Spectators’ Sympathy Prize” will be given diplomas and valuable presents from the constitutors and the sponsors of the Festival.
1.5.5. A Special Cash Prize of the Constitutors will be given to the participating ensembles “For the Fullest and Most Harmonic Implementation of the Idea of the Festival”.
1.5.6. The titles of the Diplomants of the Competition in the special nominations are given to the producers, choreographs and the participants of the projects. The Diplomants will be given original diplomas and memorable presents from the constitutors and the sponsors of the Festival.
1.5.7. All the participants of the finals will be given “IFFE Participant” Diplomas.
 
2.  CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION in the IFFE’2011 Competition.

2.1. The Competition will be held in 2 rounds:
- video-round
(selection of the miniatures by the Expert Council formed by the Constitutors of the Festival);
- the finals
(showing the miniatures in Moscow).
2.2. Choreographic miniatures based on (with spot utilization of) ethnic or retro music
can participate in the Competition.
The premieres of such miniatures should have taken place in 2010-2011.
2.3. The duration of the miniatures should be upto 12 minutes.
2.4. To participate in the Competition the candidates are requested to:
- fill in the application form on this web-site;
- not later than on June 1, 2011 send the project synopsys, 2-3 photographs
(of not less than 1 MB each), technical rider and  
to place the video in the Internet and give the reference to it.
2.5. As per the results of the video-round, not later that by July 15, 2011,
the Board of Directors of the Festival will send the leaders of the groups the official invitation
for the group to participate in the Finals of the Competition.
2.6. All the groups who were selected at the video-round and received the official invitation
will cover themselves all the expenses related to their arrival to the Festival,
their stay and meals during the Festival.
2.7. All the expenses related to the transportation of the decorations and costumes
(from the railway station in Moscow to the theatre and back to the station),
the organization of rehearsals and the show of the programmes,
including technical maintenance thereof (sound, light etc.)
is the responsibility of the Board of Directors.
2.8. Each group can have one rehearsal on stage.
2.9. The phonograms may be presented on mini discs or CDs.
 
3. CASH PRIZES OF IFFE’2010

 3.1. Gran Prix is awarded to the miniature on 
musical-and-ethnic basis which in 
the course of secret ballot received not less 
than ¾ of the Jury votes.
Gran Prix 
“Ethnica” Diploma and
a cash prize of  750 Euro  
are awarded for the best 
miniature on
musical-and-ethnic basis.
 
3.2. The title of the Laureate of “Ethnica” is given
to the miniature
on musical-and-ethnic basis which in the course of secret ballot
received more than ½ of the Jury votes.

The Laureate of “Ethnica” is given a diploma and a cash prize of  500 Euro 

The title of the Laureate of IFFE’2011 reward is given
to a miniature with spot utilization of ethnic (retro) music which in the course of secret
ballot received more than ½ of the Jury votes.
The Laureate of IFFE’2011 reward is given a diploma and a cash prize of  350 Euro

 3.3. A Special Cash Prize of the Constitutors
amounting to 250 Euro 
will be given
to the participating ensembles
“For the Fullest and Most Harmonic
Implementation of the Idea of the Festival”. 
 
3.4. The Jury of the Competition and the Constitutors
have the right not to award this or that cash prize,
and also to introduce any other special prize
upon the results of the Competition.
 
 
4. Total costs of participation in the Competition IFFE:
- 30 Euro per each participant if the group does not need hotel and meals;
- 60 Euro per each participant if the group needs 1 night stay in a hotel including breakfast;
- 90 Euro per each participant if the group needs 2 nights stay in a hotel including breakfast
For the accreditation at the Festival please fill in the APPLICATION Form in this web-site. 
After you receive the confirmation from the Organizers that they accept your application, 
you have to participate in the selective video round (till June 1, 2011) and then receive 
the official invitation to participate in the Festival. 

The Organization Fee should be paid not later than September 1, 2011. 
 
 
5. COPYRIGHT AND OTHER RIGHTS

5.1. TV-shooting during the days of the Festival will be performed by the companies accredited by the Board of Directors.
5.2. The participants will not be paid for participation in TV-shooting.
5.3. All questions of paying any royalties related to using in the programmes of certain musical pieces or texts, decorative design, stage costumes etc. will be settled by the leaders of the groups by themselves. The Board of Directors will not pay any author’s emoluments.
5.4. All the matters of medical and property insurance the participants will settle by themselves. In case of traumas of the participants obtained during the days of the Festival, the leaders of the groups will be responsible.
5.5. The Constitutors of the Festival reserve all the rights to show and spread the video-materials of the Competition without paying any honorarium to the participants. They also have exclusive rights to sign contracts on using the materials of the Competition in accordance with the copyright law.
5.6. All questions and disputes will be settled by way of negotiations with the Board of Directors. Otherwise the parties will be guided by the actual Law of the Russian Federation.

6. THE JURY OF THE COMPETITION

6.1. For awarding the titles and cash prizes of the Competition, the Board of Directors of the Festival annually forms the Jury who in the course of the Competition will determine laureates, Grand Prix winners and Special Prizes winners from the miniatures selected by the Expert Council.
6.2. The Jury will comprise competent specialists in theatric art and contemporary choreography, as well as musicologists, critics, producers, choreographs etc.
6.3. The responsibilities of the Jury are:
  6.3.1. to determine Grand Prix winner, laureates and diplomants of the Competition;
  6.3.2. to participate in the ceremony of rewarding.
6.4. The Jury`s decision of awarding Grand Prix in the nomination “The Best Miniature” is taken by ¾ votes in the course of secret ballot and should be recorded at the final session in the minutes signed by all the Jury members and the Executive Secretary of the Competition.
6.5. The Jury’s decision of awarding Laureate awards in the nomination “The Best Miniature” is taken by more than ½ votes in the course of secret ballot and should be recorded at the final session in the minutes signed by all the Jury members and the Executive Secretary of the Competition.
6.6. The Jury’s decision of awarding special prizes and diplomas is taken in the course of open ballot at the final session and should be recorded in the minutes signed by all the Jury members and the Executive Secretary of the Competition.
6.7. The responsibilities of the Executive Secretary:
6.7.1. to record the minutes of the Jury’s final session;
6.7.2. to count the total number of points given by the Jury to each nominee, and to announce the results of the secret ballot at the final session;
6.7.3. to coordinate the activities of the Jury and the Board of Directors of the Festival;
6.7.4. to control the time-limit in the work of the Jury at the final session.
6.8. The Organizing Committee together with the Board of Directors will form the Spectators’ Jury in order to award the Spectators’ Sympathy Prize.
6.9. The members of the Jury must attend all the competing miniatures.
